MARIE-CLAUDE ROY, pianist

Marie-Claude Roy’s distinguished career as a collaborative pianist, comprises work with some of the finest artists in Belgium and beyond.

She is described as a spontaneous and warmhearted musician who values human encounters. Her beautiful artistry and skillfulness have allowed her to collaborate with many illustrious singers including Michèle Losier, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Julie Bouliane, Philippe Jarrousky, Patrick Carfizi, Patrick Kabongo, Helene Guilmette and Lisa Houben.

Ms. Roy has also worked as an accompanist and a vocal coach at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, the Conservatoire de Mons, the IMEP and for numerous auditions and competitions including the Queen Elisabeth competition.

As a repetiteur, she has been invited by De Munt, the Opera de Liège, De Vlaamse Opera and since 2010 is a regular guest pianist for Musiques Nouvelles.

Most recently, she conducted, played and recorded the world creation of « Albertine en cinq temps » an opera written by canadian composer Catherine Major based on the eponymous novel by Michel Tremblay.

Ms. Roy is an alumni of both the Université Laval in Québec City and the Université de Montréal. She also studied with renowned vocal coaches namely Janine Reiss, Peter Tomek and Claudette Denys.

She lives in Brussels since 2002.
